Government Rebate Package aims to install ceiling insulation in Australian homes making them more energy efficient; to boost the economy and to create jobs.
It will help households:-

• Reduce their energy use, cut their power bills by around $200 a year.
• Increase the comfort and value of their homes
• Reducing their carbon footprint.

The Home Insulation Program provides assistance of up to $1,200 to install ceiling insulation. The assistance is available to eligible owner-occupiers, landlords and tenants.

Owner-occupiers, landlords and tenants will receive a rebate of up to $1,200 when they install new ceiling insulation in their existing homes and properties.

The rebate is paid directly to the company you choose to install the insulation (as long as they are on the Installer Provider Register).

Who can get a rebate?

The program targets homes whose main living areas are currently uninsulated, or have very little ceiling insulation. According to the Government guidelines, this is the case if existing insulation is at or below 0.5 R-Value – which must be assessed and recorded by your Installer.

By adding insulation, the average home will save significant dollars a year in energy bills.

The full program is in effect from 1 July 2009 and will run until 31 December 2011.
